Cost Engineer

Job description

As a Cost Engineer at ATM Oirschot, you will be responsible for preparing cost calculations and technical preparations for quotations. You will check technical feasibility and determine the optimal processing method. You will report directly to the director. 

As a Cost Engineer, you will be the link between our customers and suppliers. You will also be challenged to build customer loyalty and increase sales where possible. The role involves responding to quotation requests and requests for information in a service-oriented manner. The position has a preparatory technical role, possibly in consultation with the Production Manager and Quality Engineer, to ensure that actual orders run as smoothly as possible through the process, meeting the set quality requirements. 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for cost price calculation as a target for operations; 
  • You analyze customer demand based on parts lists, drawings and other specifications; 
  • You assess customer specifications for completeness and feasibility; 
  • You communicate with internal operations and are responsible for product-related purchasing under the right conditions and on time; 
  • You determine the optimal processing method and coordinate this with operations;
  • You identify the limitations, risks, assumptions and opportunities in a request; 
  • You ensure that the correct data is entered into the ERP system; 
  • You send invoices to customers; 
  • You provide technical support during negotiations; 
  • You investigate opportunities for the cost reductions; 
  • You contribute ideas for revenue-increasing initiatives and strategies, as well as contributing to the organization's short- and long-term strategy.  

Job Requirements

  • You have at least a MBO level of education, supplemented with relevant and/or subject-specific training and courses; 
  • Experience in mechatronics and/or surface treatment is an advantage; 
  • You have strong communication skills, a customer-oriented attitude, you are persuasive and you have good anticipatory skills; 
  • Work experience in a similar technical position is an advantage; 
  • You have good command of Dutch and English; 
  • You are proactive.
